Flood Wall Street

From Ted Alexandro’s Instagram stream.

Huffington Post, Sept 22, 2014: A day after the People’s Climate March filled the streets of New York, a smaller group of protesters are engaging in non-violent, direct action against climate change. By conducting a sit-in on the steps of the New York Stock Exchange and blocking lower Broadway, organizers say they are confronting “the system that both causes and profits from the crisis that is threatening humanity.”

I think the peaceful protest action was amazing. I had had no idea it was even going on. I shamefully purchased a “new used” Jeep Liberty recently…mainly because my wife and I who had become desperate for another vehicle to be added to our single car family had to happen quickly, and after trying to find a quality used small car…and our trustworthy mechanic vetting several economy cars…none of the cars we brought to him for inspection, passed his inspections. The last car (on a fluke) was the Jeep Liberty and it passed with flying colors. Sadly, because we were in need of a vehicle RIGHT NOW…we ended up buying the Jeep. I still don’t like the fact that we have it. Yes, it’s very comfortable…but so what? It’s a GAS GUZZLER! Anyway, I ride my bike for local errands and walk as much as possible to places close by. Even the local post office is over a mile away…but I still walk or ride my bike. Until I can land a permanent job somewhere…we’re stuck with the Jeep. I feel ashamed…but like I said, I use my bike and walk as much as possible, for someone who lives in a sub-urban area of Los Angeles…where most businesses I frequent, are spread all over the place. We WILL be getting rid of the Jeep as soon as I get a new job.
