DIVEST FROM DAPL MINNESOTA

– Artist’s Website –

Native leaders at Standing Rock are calling on allies to continue taking action against the financial institutions backing the Dakota Access Pipeline.

The DAPL is a $3.8 billion, 1,100-mile oil pipeline currently under construction from North Dakota to Illinois. This project blatantly violates indigenous treaty rights, was approved without adequate tribal consultation, and will destroy Sioux cultural sites.

On December 4th, the US Army Corps denied Dakota Access LLC the final easement it needs to drill at Lake Oahe. The US Army Corps decision pauses construction on the pipeline and is a testament to the courage and determination of water protectors – but the fight isn’t over yet.

The corporations behind the DAPL have doubled down on their commitment to “ensuring that this vital project is brought to completion… Nothing this Administration has done today changes that in any way.”

In recent weeks, water protectors faced fierce pressure from security and police, who have used concussion grenades and water cannon in sub-freezing weather. These attacks violate civil liberties and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The DAPL is also a hazard to the drinking water of millions of Americans.

We cannot allow our money to contribute to the human rights and environmental disasters still threatening Standing Rock.
