Poem – Greed

Poem – Greed

Larion Myakicheff

We who bear witness
An eye on corporate greed
Are sadly confused
The blind headlong rush
Amassing hoarding fortunes
With cash not for spending
Stolen hopes and strangled dreams
By suits feeding from the trough
Empathy looses out
To greater dividends
Search for higher yield
Redistribution fairy tale
Trail strewn with confusion
Trickle down a mere illusion
Finite resources on spaceship earth
When it’s gone it’s gone
With the cupboard laid bare
What you gonna do
Where you gonna go
When the earth says to you
Enough enough just before
Gasping a final breath
What you gonna do
Where you gonna go
Nowhere left to hide
Your desire to dominate
Face the mirror now
That the sum is done
The balance is now due
On all that you accrue
Time now , yours, not mine
To face the BOTTOM LINE
