Mother Earth is furious;
she is Idle No More.
She shudders and quakes, but Her choler is overlooked;
Her howling, tempestuous winds are like cries of pain;
and Her torrents and floods– a cathartic attempt to cleanse Her soul.
Her warnings are unheard, unnoticed, and neglected, like Her.

Mother Earth is bleeding,
wounded by the drills that incessantly rape Her,
siphoning the lifeforce of our ancestors;
they steal our past while destroying our future.
We shall be Idle No More.

Mother Earth is sick and weary;
We shall be Idle No More.
Her waters and air run black with filth, with greed.
The trees– Her hair– cut down in ignorance,
the soils– Her skin– polluted with apathy, all in the name
of progress and fortune… Green destroyed in search of Gold.

Mother Earth is being squandered;
We shall be Idle No More.
How much must they take until there is nothing left?
They consume so much in a race to gather the most.
But what good is their false idea of wealth,
when ancestors are forgotten and descendants are bequeathed a dying land?
They spend all their time worshiping an invisible god,
forever trying to reach those holy gates of pearly white,
while they desecrate the Goddess and Paradise under their own feet.

Mother Earth is dying;
We shall be Idle No More,
We must stand up as One, to save and protect Her
from those who mistakenly think She can be owned.
Let our struggles be known, and let our voices be heard;
let the hearteat of our Mother beat upon our drums,
and its message of love and peace echo in our own hearts/
They plant seeds of hatred, violence, and death;
but Brothers and Sisters, We must unite,
We must be Idle No More…
or I fear they will reap what they sow.
