Poem: Strangled by Belief

Poem: Strangled by Belief

By Kelly Stefano

This is a poem I wrote after the latest Supreme Court decision in the McCutcheon case…I feel that we shall rise together only when we shed the oppressive shackles of belief, hierarchy, and ideologies of those that lust for power over us.

Strangled by Belief

Strangled by belief
Your eyes they do deceive
No grasp of what the heart perceives
Substance is deeper than the trees
So what is real?
Crumbling ideals
Dying leaders
The world weeps for relief
Together we abandon belief
We open our eyes to receive
That which only the heart can perceive.
