Preparing For Anniversary

Preparing For Anniversary

Kenny Frost

It’s going to be that time when we all come together to commensurate the 45th Anniversary of Wounded Knee on Feb. 27, 2018, as it will be a time for us all to come together as one. Many of our leaders are now getting up there in age. It’s a time of honoring them.

As people of this land, we’ve seen so much in just a short time in the measurement of time. Remembering our ancestors all across Indian Country of all tribal nations who gave their lives for us to be here today.

As people of this land, we’re still fighting for our treaties rights. We can not forget what our ancestors signed. We must continue to fight to ensure our rights and for those future generations yet to be born.

We will and we must always be thankful to our ancestors the Great Chiefs, Medicine, Spiritual women and men and our warriors who fought so hard for the love of our lands.

We are the caretakers of the lands. We must continue to stand for our sacred places, burials, places of worship, and our sacred water.

We stand as one.
