This is the fanciest address in the US and lots of high-powered people live there. Home of the 1%.
We will be outside to meet Hillary, shining light on the corrosive nature of Money in Politics, rallying to demand that political leaders to pledge not to take campaign money from the fossil fuel industry.
It is time to fix our Democracy. Now is the time for every presidential candidate to prove that they will put people first by rejecting dirty money and protecting people’s right to vote. We launched this pledge along with 20 other organizations several weeks ago, and Hillary still has not signed on. We will be asking Hillary in-person if she will take the pledge not to take dirty money from the fossil fuel industry.
People are more powerful than special corporate interests and we want Hillary as well as all the candidates to uphold a people powered democracy and keep our fossil fuels locked in the ground once and for all.
We will have some signage but encourage you to bring your own creative ideas and your own visuals as well. Please incorporate the language of the pledge into your signs as well as #fixdemocracy. One idea is to put the pledge language on several poster/foam boards and form a physical line with the pledge. Have fun with it!
Take lots of photos and post on twitter using the hashtag #fixdemocracy. You could even get a retweet from GPUSA! As folks are walking by, feel free to engage with them, ask them to take their own photos with your signs and to tweet at Hillary!
