Hey Revolutionaries!

This week we’re doing a solo show in the Revolutionary Gallery – I’m a big fan of the street artist, Morley so I’m showcasing three of my favorite pieces of his.

His style is instantly recognizable, unique, often satirical and humorous. Yet he does not fashion himself as a niche artist, at least not in my mind.

He inspires with uplifting messages of “Don’t Give Up,” forces a chuckle with creatively placed commentary on anything from advertising to mortality and delivers a scathing slice to corporate media through the mere absence of consumerist calls to action.

To me, he is a political artist not because he necessarily tries to be but because his messages can’t help but be a commentary on the corporatocratic vapidity that is our media and our government. In fact, on his site it says, his goal is to “act as a friendly voice amongst the cacophony of billboard messages and corporate slogans expectorated across our skylines.”

Just goes to show you that even if you’re not setting out to be strictly political, a message of hope, change and a little bit of humor can go a long way.

Enjoy today’s Revolutionary Gallery with Morley!
