The body expresses our deepest emotions. The torso of a female body, seen in a state of tension evked for me the awful state of Syria, in the midst of hell. There is no help, no relief. Towns are destroyed along with people. Some manage to flee, most cannot. I hope peopleseeing this image can feel the tension, the pain of the suffering Syrian people, held as in a vice.
I painted the image in oils, on canvas. Oil paint is so tactile.
