Tammam Azzam

Syrian artist Tammam Azzam recently superimposed Gustav Klimt’s iconic painting The Kiss over a bombed-out building in his native land. Upon posting the picture on Facebook earlier this year, he received over 20,000 likes and 14,000 shares in only five hours. The juxtaposition of passion and energy over the rubble and dirt of a brutal civil war drive home the conflicts currently pummeling this Middle Eastern country. This piece is part of the artist’ series Syrian Museum, in which he superimposes other iconic works of art onto the war-torn remains of his homeland.
