Artist Statement:
Sometimes ideas and emotions acquire a deeper meaning when given some visual form. From the arrogance of the Criminal Justice System to the triumph of beauty over greed, I want to see it in color and in full public view. I hate “political art” that focuses on “victims” as objects of pity. I’ll take class anger over pity any day. I like to add a bit of humor and distance to a piece – lets the viewer breathe and think. I got involved in painting and sculpture in order to explain the concepts of pro-working class political struggle in ways deeper than words and rational arguments. The Corporate Media and Cultural Financiers are devoted to trumpeting the values of the .1 percenters. They know how important it is to get their vision into our heads. They are rulers not social workers. We should all keep that in mind when we read their papers and go to the movies. So I’m one of the artists fighting back with images useful to getting them off our backs.
