The Movement School for Revolutionaries is a day-long workshop for revolutionaries in radical & progressive movements who recognize the imperative to restructure society to meet human needs and address the dire social, economic, and ecological challenges facing our world.

ABOUT THE EVENT

The Movement School for Revolutionaries is a day-long workshop for revolutionaries in radical & progressive movements who recognize the imperative to restructure society to meet human needs and address the dire social, economic, and ecological challenges facing our world. Every Movement School workshop is custom-designed to meet the particular needs of each community and the goals of local organizers, based on a core curriculum intended to help revolutionaries in progressive groups and party organizations:

Understand the larger social & historical context of our current political moment

Collaborate with fellow radicals & progressives across party lines

Build a united front of the Left

Develop strategies for engaging elections and prepare to take & exercise state power

THIS DAY LONG WORKSHOP WILL BE CO-FACILITATED BY DAVID COBB AND MELEIZA FIGUEROA

Continental breakfast and lunch included.

The suggested donation for this workshop is $35.00 to $100.00 dollars, please pay what is comfortable for you. No one is turned away. $100 dollars will pay for you and the sponsorship of a Revolutionary to participate in this workshop.

David Cobb was the Green Party Presidential Candidate in 2004 and Campaign manager for the Stein/Baraka 2016 Presidential Campaign. From campaigning for Democratic presidential candidates Jesse Jackson and Jerry Brown in the 1980’s, to civil disobedience protesting the denial of 3rd party candidates in presidential debates and spearheading the campaign for a Constitutional amendment limiting the power of corporations, David has been in the trenches and a leader in grassroots organizing.

Meleiza Figueroa is a PhD Candidate in Geography at UC Berkeley, Press Director for the Stein/Baraka 2016 Presidential campaign, and Executive Producer of the Green News Network. Her experience in progressive media includes over a decade as a staff producer for Pacifica Radio, and lead researcher for the 2005 documentary “Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price,” as well as on-air correspondent for Free Speech TV’s “Rising Up With Sonali.” She has contributed to Truthdig.com, Against the Current, and New Politics. She has been a longtime political educator and organizer, involved in a wide range of movements for social and environmental justice.
