Their Days are Numbered

Evan Greer

Written on 11/25/2011, the National Day of Mourning (aka “Thanksgiving.”) These are some of my thoughts about the current #Occupy Movement interwoven with images from past and present struggles for liberation around the world. I offer this as just one of many voices calling for an end to all oppression. Please support the movements and leave your fear behind.

Appreciate the Occupy Mv’t as I do- youths getting involved the way we did- it collapsed due to its own, leaderless, anarchist tendencies. We need a workers party and leaders- students can join but only students who are workers like football players (lol). Actually- students can support- why not. But one thing- we need to fight back. See SPARK in the UA (in France- Lutte Ouvriere).

Most of the Occupy Folks in my area were/are retired people, grandparents. There were lots of elders involved everywhere. And it didn’t “collapse”. There are many groups that began during that time as working groups and continue on now under other names. Many relationships were established and much work and action still ongoing, with seeds started during that time. A sense of solidarity amongst interconnected issues was forged. This is true where I live, and it has changed my life. I know it is true elsewhere as well. Popular Resistance is full of stories of the work of Occupy continuing on.

Great- I hope I stand corrected- don’t see it in Baltimore- although Red Emmas might disagree- I support SPARK in the US and Lutte Ouvriere in France and elsewhere in the world. It’s old school Trotsky. It may be a tactical difference but they can count for a lot. Spark is running candidates in Detroit this fall. I hope you are right and don’t want any one to think I don’t love and support Occupy spin offs.
As we know, the media doesn’t cover the results of Occupy, except for our media.
