Utah Phillips Peace Bench project

The Peace and Justice Center is accepting highly qualified individuals to work on a crowdsourcing campaign for the Utah Phillips Peace Bench. There are 4 PAID contractual positions. Length of contract is 9 weeks, PART-TIME. Estimated working time per week is 2-4 hours.

#1 VIDEOGRAPHER AND EDITOR

Responsibilities

To shoot video in studio or on location. Ability to create storyboards and scripts that highlight the Utah Phillips Peace Bench project.

1. Strong video editing skills a must.

2. Must have practical knowledge of audio and video signals digital characteristics, compression and conversion techniques; streaming technologies; file formats; and display devices.

3. Must have practical knowledge of video composition principles and techniques, such as framing, lighting, optics, perspectives, layering, keying, and sound design.

4. Arranging music, voiceover, capturing narration and editing for final cut.

5. Detailed-oriented.

6. Upload videos to IndieGoGo site.

7. Upload videos to Facebook, YouTube and other social media sites.

8. Strong editing skills in sizing of photographs.

9. Familiar with Animoto storyboarding.

Commitments

1. Agree to meet 1x a week with entire team; maximum meeting duration: 1-2 hours.

2. Length of commitment: 4-5 weeks pre-planning and 4 weeks during fundraising campaign activities.

3. Be willing to act as a Team Member and to be accountable for directions.

4. This is a paid contractual part-time work. Fee for services based on experience and breadth of tasks agreed upon. Payment for services are billed and paid at end of campaign. Payment to contractor is guaranteed.

5. A resume or summary of experience will be required, plus one person who can vouch for your character and work experience.

# 2 PUBLIC RELATIONS AND MEDIA COORDINATOR

Responsibilities

1. Develop a strategy for securing media attention via press releases, radio interviews, newspaper interviews and announcements. Local and beyond.

2. Be comfortable writing copy to be used on social media sites, as need arises.

3. Writing press announcements for music blogs and blogs pertinent to the kind of music Utah played. Includes activism blog sites.

4. Placement of news releases in Union newspaper and other appropriate news outlets. Includes setting up radio interviews.

5. The PR person will need to be comfortable conducting research in order to identify appropriate avenues for publicity.

6. Coordinate all public relations media activities. Arrange interviews with Jan-Michelle Sawyer and Peace Center representatives.

7. Manage media inquiries and coordinate interview requests.

8. Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations.

9. Keep a log of all media contacted, and the date and results of contact.

Skills

1. Proven working experience in media and public relations required.

2. Knowledgeable on how to angle press and media relations on both the local and national level.

3. Comfortable acting as spokesperson for Peace Center’s Utah Phillips Peace Bench project.

4. Exceptional writing and editing skills.

5. Solid knowledge and experience of social media including blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

6. Excellent organizational skills and “can-get-it-done” energy.

7. Belief in the value of the project and love of Utah Phillips.

# 3 POINT PERSON AND RESEARCHER

Responsibilities

1. Identify collaborators and Influencers who can be key to the project.

2. Pulls from the horse sculpture at fairgrounds key businesses and organizations that funded that project.

3. Identifies from this list, the key contact person, email and phone number.

4. Pitches to these businesses first by email, then by phone call, then email again.

5. Identifies 12 business owners who would be willing to be filmed for a 90 sec. endorsement of the Utah Phillips Peace Bench (UPPB). Schedules all interviews with each person and videographer. In addition, this list should include someone from the City Council or Planning Commission, and a spokesperson from the Chamber.

6. Meets with these 12 people to go over talking points. This person will manage the interviews for the video.

7. The second primary task is to request that these businesses help by letting their customers know about the fundraiser. A flyer (paper and digital) with all the information will be given to businesses with our request that they distribute the flyer to their ‘Peeps’ twice during the campaign: at the beginning of the campaign and during the third week. All businesses that follow through with flyer announcement will be noted in the dedication program.

8. Keep a log and timesheet of all activities.

9. Write… with the entire team… fundraising posts for Facebook and Twitter.

10. Brainstorm with entire team the rewards for the fundraiser.

Commitments

2. Length of commitment: 5 weeks pre-planning and 4 weeks during fundraising campaign activities.

3. Be willing to act as a Team Member and to be accountable for directions.

# 4 SOCIAL MEDIA COORDINATOR

Responsibilities

1. Be comfortable writing copy to be used on social media sites, as need arises. Implement the social media strategy, coordinating with the fundraising team.

2. Manage all tasks for Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Manage presence on social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed.

3. Be responsible for uploading content and photos that will be prepared and ready to post on social media platforms. Must know how to resize photos.

4. Become an online advocate for the Utah Phillips Peace Bench on social media sites, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.

5. Post on blogs content that may or may not be pre-written for blogs and build an active brand ambassador network to spread the word about the project.

6. Monitor effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of social media programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.

7. Regularly provide feedback and insights gained from social media monitoring to the fundraising team in order to help everyone evolve their strategies in a timely fashion.

8. Monitor trends in social media tools, trends and applications.

Requirements

1. Strong project management and organizational skills.

2. In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Google+ etc.) and how they are utilized.

3. Manage presence on social networking sites, including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed.

Commitments
