The Vessels Of Life Are Not The Tools For The Destruction Of Societies

Terri Lloyd

About this piece:
Responding to the gender violence of patriarchal structures. Violence against women, girls and female infants is a widely accepted and common practice around the globe. When we accept wars, we are obliged to accept the atrocities.

This piece is currently on exhibit in the Stigma show presented by The Haggus Society in Los Angeles. Bound together by gender, age, and medium, Stigma shares the works of four distinct artists working in digital media and defying conventional wisdom.

“Exiled to the wilderness of nonconformity I have found comfort some place between Zen and the professionally weird. A paper-headed pajama-clad raconteur translating observations and reactions with graphic pun and insinuation, my work continues to venture into the absurdities of socio-political, philosophical and psychoanalytical themes.

In other words, I make art because I am not a well-adjusted adult.”

Terri Lloyd’s career has been a two pronged path between fine art and commercial arts ventures. In 2010, she retired her commercial venture to pursue a lifelong interest of fine arts, and continues to become more active as a leader in community arts organizations and activities.

In 2011 she co-founded The Haggus Society, a feminist arts organization for women over the age of 40. The Haggus Society recognizes that many creative women over the age of 40 are under-served in the community and in the arts. Yet many women are re-igniting their careers in spite of circumstance. The Haggus Society works to provide support and programming for these women.
